As a mechatronics engineering student, I have always asked myself one question: What will truly set me apart? Every year, thousands of engineers graduate with similar technical skills, comparable GPAs, and impressive projects. If I simply follow the same path as everyone else, what value am I really creating?
I have never liked following the crowd without understanding why. I believe that real growth begins when you question the purpose behind what you are doing. For me, success has never been about collecting certificates or achieving high grades; it has always been about creating meaningful impact.
That mindset is exactly what led me to join the Entrepreneurship Exchange Program. My interest in entrepreneurship comes from a simple belief: it is one of the most powerful ways to solve real problems, create opportunities, and improve people’s lives. I wanted to learn how to think beyond technology and understand how ideas can become sustainable solutions.
Working with teammates from Egypt, Morocco, Libya, and the United States was one of the most valuable parts of the experience. Every discussion challenged my assumptions. It introduced me to different ways of approaching the same problem. I realized that innovation does not come from having the smartest person in the room; it comes from bringing together different perspectives and learning from one another.
The biggest lesson I am taking with me is that being a mechatronics engineer is not just about designing systems or writing code. It is about using engineering as a tool to solve real problems and create value for society. Technical skills may open doors, but curiosity, entrepreneurship, and the willingness to think differently are what will truly make me stand out as an engineer.
